Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2008 NTA Swap Meet and making it a big success.

Our next club project is a fly-in at the Decatur Municipal Airport for their open house. Our club will be promoted along with the many other events.

SWAP MEET TIME! July is when all the planning gets done.

Honorary Club member Lad Doctor, former director and chief pilot of the Cananaugh Flight Museum in Addison, Reno racer, Vietnam naval aviator is “back on the stick”!

Club member Robert Ismert completes his P-39 AIRACOBRA.

 

 

JUNE 2008 -

 

 

Details of the upcoming Swap Meet are detailed. Table reservation forms and contact details are now available. Pictures of the new awning expansion and expertly constructed plane stands are presented for your viewing pleasure.

 

MAY 2008 -

 

 

Gary Saba is elected club President; Obama and Clinton both beg for his consulting services. Several event notices are included for activities at other fields including "big bird", helicopter and other.

 

APRIL 2008 -

 

 

April Fools Fun Fly results are included - congratulations to Dallas Stroud for his win. Participants should be sure to check their standings as it will be important in the "annual totals - championship prize" awards.

 

 

MARCH 2008 -

 

 

Exciting new format for the newsletter includes cable TV listings highlighting carp fishing shows along with a complete report on the previous weeks weather for those of you who missed it. These changes are being brought to you through the tireless efforts of  our newsletter editor, John Larsen. He's hinted that some equally exciting changes are in the works for next month.

 

 

FEBRUARY 2008 -

 

 

Colossal giant grabs P51 Mustang out of the air ala King Kong is caught on film. Hank Hamner unveils a new plane (Kyosho Flip 3D with an OS91) and has yet another being built (Nitro Models Yak 54). Naab counters with an OMP Yak profile (with a Saito 125) and a DL50 powered 80in Yak in process. Not to be out done, Kerry Kennedy has a DL50 powered Bling nearing completion. Find all the secret numbers under each of the airplane pictures and win $50. Contact John Larson for contest rules and to claim your prize.

 

 

JANUARY 2008 -

 

 

"Ugly Pilot / Pretty Plane" contest winner announced - pictured on cover - please use caution when viewing. Although Hamner paid for professional makeup job he still only managed 2nd place. Details of January 12th Fun Fly are detailed including date. Naab promises prizes valued at under than $3000. Photos of Christmas Party are included after editing for those members with outstanding warrants.

 

 

NOVEMBER 2007 -

 

 

November meeting date changed due to Thanksgiving or everybody giving thanks that November meeting date changed; you decide. Christmas party announced along with plans for lights and decorations at the field. Funding limited to $300K due to budget constraints and pending lawsuits. Hank Hamner shows his photojournalist skills with thousands of shots of the Fun Fly.

 

 

OCTOBER 2007 -

 

 

Fall Fun Fly is still scheduled for the 13th and Evan promises prizes totaling as much as $3MM. He says he wouldn't miss the event even if he was asked to help with the harvest in Kansas. Scale Fly In pictures include airplanes, owners and even pilots. Attendees treated to watching the beautiful Mike Whitley built Stearman go up in smoke.

 

 

SEPTEMBER 2007 -

 

 

Plans for a Fall Fun Fly are announced with promises from Evan for no more than a 6 month delay. Details are to be announced on the Ripley's Believe It or Not Show. Wingspan restriction of between 4 and 400in. for the Scale Fly In angers Art Hatch; be sure to check out his letter to the editor. Minutes of the meeting turn into hours.

 

 

AUGUST 2007 -

 

 

Hamner aces the Pylon Races and takes home 4 trophies along with $93,000 in prize money. Kennedy initially asks for drug testing but agrees to give up his protest when his $16,000 prize money was put on the line. Hamner hints that his winning plane will be at the swap meet with a $250,000 price tag.

 

 

JULY 2007 -

 

 

News of an upcoming July 21 NTA Club Pylon Race has Reno Air Race officials crying foul. Naab agrees to allow full size planes to fly in the event to stem tide of death threats. Wife swappers still trying to get August 18 Swap Meet table reservations; Larsen holds firm on denials.

 

JUNE 2007 -

 

 

Stan Bode announces plan to build a 38% scale Ford Tri-motor powered by 3 150cc gas engines. "Funding by the National Air and Space Museum is just a matter of them sending the money" says Stan. Covering supposed to be "rumpled Monokote" for ease of maintenance.

 

MAY 2007 -

 

 

AMA threatens "dismemberment" if Fun-Fly is not held immediately. $4M in funding on hold until event is held. National weather service arrests Gary and Evan for "illegal flooding" and "unlicensed rain man" activities. Bail set at $3 each; club refuses to pay.

 

APRIL 2007 -

 

 

NTA may have found solution to Drought and global warming! Other drought stricken regions requesting Gary and Evan plan a Fun-Fly in their areas. Nobel prize considered, Al Gore befuddled.

 

MARCH 2007 -


The events, rules and regulations for the April Fools Fun Fly were finalized at the March club meeting and are detailed here. Date finalized as "sometime this year, maybe".

 

 

FEBRUARY 2007 -

 

Valentines Day pot luck nets $36,882 for the club. Ex President Clinton was guest speaker.

 

 

JANUARY 2007 -

 

Club budget for 2007 released to API and UPS. Items included are a $300K expansion to the field wind sock along with TP for the sanolet.

 

 

DECEMBER 2006

 

Hank Hamner passes out club Christmas presents valued at over $2M. A full list is included. Club elections held amid rumors of FL style miscount. Naab reelected with help from drug cartel.

 

NOVEMBER 2006 -

 

 

Thanksgiving meeting boycotted by those who didn't attend. Boycotters asked to submit names so they can be dealt with accordingly.

 

OCTOBER 2006 -


Costumes at the Halloween party include fabulous, funny and ridiculous. Reese Witherspoon attends as Lady Godiva. Check out the pictures.

Club pays over $3 to refill lake at field. Fish are saved and the lakes balsa magnet is reinvigorated.

Club fly in held at Catalina Island, CA. Club members allowed to fly the Boeing 747 chartered for the trip.

April Fools Fun Fly a big hit. Gary Saba accused and found guilty of cheating and stripped of his thin CA prize.
