Scale Fly-in

The 2009 D-Day Memorial Scale Fly-in turned out to be a great success.Everyone, as always, worked together to pull off a well run event.

A special thanks to our judges, Evan Wenger, Ed Wunder, Rich Balding and Lad Doctor. Thanks to Dallas Stroud and John Larsen for their contributions, and thanks to contest director, Danny Volgamore, for organizing a fun event. Ed Wunder gets a second thanks for the great job he always does cutting our field.

This year, we had almost twice as many participants, making it one of our most popular competitions. Keep your eyes on the awnings. We will be hanging the Memorial Plaques this week. Thanks to Bill Burrow for taking on this project.

Gara Saba
President.

Welcome to our Website

AMA Gold Leader Club #1659 - Denton, Texas

.

North Texas Aeromodelers (NTA) fly at a field located at a North Lakes Park in Denton, Texas. The park is owned by the City of Denton but the field improvements and maintenance is provided by club and its members.

NTA is known as the friendliest RC Club in North Texas. Everyone is welcome even if you do not own an RC plane or helicopter. In fact, you can schedule an introductory flight with a club instructor before you buy in to the hobby. You won't find a more helpful and knowledgeable group in North Texas.

Introductory Flight Training Program

To introduce prospective aeromodelers to the thrill and excitement of flying radio controlled aircraft, the club (along with the generous support of our local Hobby Shops), is sponsoring an introductory flight program. The club will provide the model, radio, fuel and a qualified trainer; all you have to do is bring yourself!! Introductory Flights are free and highly encouraged! Everyone is welcome to "give it a try"! See "Welcome to the club" under the Membership tab for NTA certified instructors.

Basic Flight Training Program

Once you have your own aircraft, our expert instructors will teach you to fly with confidence and safety. Learn at your own pace. We will take you step by step through your first solo flight. Free to all club members.

Getting Started

Although you may like to start out with high performance aerobatic aircraft, you must resist temptation. Learning to fly R/C aircraft requires a good trainer plane and lots of practice. Many kits and ARF (almost-ready-to-fly) models are available as trainers including the Hobbico Nexstar and Hangar 9 PTS P-51. Be sure to visit your local Hobby Shop for advice and personal assistance and to see the latest items available!

When

Most every Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting. You can also schedule time with a NTA instructor during the week. See the Membership page for further instructor information.

Note: Winds in excess of 20 mph are not considered good days to train.
